Legislative Branch the branch of government having the power to make laws
Judicial Branch the branch of government that interprets the laws
Popular Sovereignty a doctrine in political theory that government is created by and subject to the will of the people
Republicanism a country that is governed by elected representatives and by an elected leaded (such as a president) rather than by a king or queen
Federalism a system in which a national and local government share
Checks and Balances a system in which each branch of government has the power to block the actions of the other
